Dani Fernández

Born in Valencia (Spain) in 1987

His works are characterised by the tension between the spontaneous and the deliberate. His compositions are a record of gesture and the memory of movement.

Dani Fernández’s work is built from the physicality of gesture and an openness to accident as part of the creative process. His practice is based on a direct relationship with materials, where the action of the body, gravity and the fluidity of elements map out a territory in which control and chance coexist.

Through spills, free strokes and compositions born of impulse, he explores a plastic grammar that unfolds beyond the narrative. There is no representation, but presence: what matters is not what is seen, but what happens in the instant of execution.

He does not seek images but intensities. His work does not illustrate but embodies a plastic experience situated between the corporeal, the material and the ephemeral.

Main characteristics of his work.

  • Monochromatic.
  • Spontaneous stroke.
  • Watercolour.
